SPANISH SPEAKING PARENT EDUCATOR
TITLE: PARENT EDUCATOR, PART-TIME/CONTRACT
CONTRACT RATE: $25.00/hour after unpaid internship.
REPORTS TO: SENIOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for the facilitation of ESCAPE’s curricula to adult participants, in addition to mentoring and
supervising interns and/or volunteers as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, and/or related field, Masters preferred.
Extensive experience facilitating group sessions.
Completion of background checks.
Knowledge of the causes of child abuse and prevention techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of people.
Belief that there are effective, positive discipline alternatives to physical punishment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including evenings and weekends.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel in and outside outlying areas of Houston.
Belief in the ability of persons to change their behavior.
Extensive knowledge of child development, healthy family dynamics, and healthy parenting.
Attend three mandatory, unpaid in-service trainings per year as part of required professional development.
DUTIES OF POSITION:
Responsible for the facilitation of ESCAPE’s curricula to adult participants.
Responsible for accurately and timely inputting program data information for program delivery.
Assists in the implementation of educator or program evaluation as needed.
Assists in research of and disseminating information to promote use of available tools and resources.
Abide by the Texas Family Code and ESCAPE Family Resource Center’s policies and procedures for reporting any suspicion of child abuse or neglect.
Responsible for staying informed of technical/professional information relating to this position as determined by the Director of Programs.
Responsible for adhering to the goals and mission of ESCAPE Family Resource Center.
Responsible for completing all required reports and paperwork that is pertinent to programming.
Work as a team player with all other educators. Responsible for being on-call as a substitute educator as needed.
Travel to various locations in the city of Houston and outlying counties.
